Sylvain, aged 26
On-Line Acquisitions and Partnerships Project Manager

« Listening to the market to anticipate new trends on the Web »

What is your job in the Group and what does it entail?

I joined the Yves Rocher Group in April 2005 as Acquisitions Project Manager for the Dr. Pierre Ricaud brand. My task is to contribute to the development and perpetuation of the brand’s sales activity on the Internet. The aim is, in particular, to create maximum customer traffic and visibility on the e-commerce website!

How do you actually organise your days?

To appeal to current or future internet customers, I have to deal with many areas: managing advertising investment and partnerships, ensuring the relevance and stability of our work and monitoring tools, resolving technical problems, and so on – while constantly calling things into question. Nothing is set in stone on the Web!

What appeals to you about this job and what qualities does it require?

Contrary to popular belief, it is a job open to the outside world with a strong relationship component.
Open to the outside world, as we seek to put the brand centre stage and, to this end, we work hand in hand with many partners.

The job has a strong relationship dimension as, to stand out in this still young medium, we need to have as many exchanges as possible with our contacts to find new ideas and optimise our communication campaigns, while continuing to make our mark. We need to listen to the market far beyond the cosmetics environment to anticipate new trends on the Web.

What do you like most about this job?

Lots of things! Working with an extremely responsive medium while relying on the historic know-how of a Group that is a Mail Order specialist considerably enriches and structures our approach to the Web.
Cross-disciplinary sales strategies between stores, Mail Order and the Web, but also involvement in discussions on the brand, its image, its positioning, my work reaches far beyond the scope of e-commerce.

What is your training?

After a DESS postgraduate course in international trade and management and a year’s experience on the Web, I decided to complete my training with a Specialised Master’s in E-Business at ESCP-EAP.
